The 2024 version of Topps Gilded Collection Baseball comes out today. It’s a $700 box of cards with just give cards, two of which are autographed.
This is the third year of the release. While I recommend sticking to singles, there may be collectors who want to take a shot at a hobby box. Is it worth the risk? It all depends on how you look at it, but here are the top sales of Gilded Collection from the past couple of years to give you an idea of what the biggest possibilities are in the product.
2022 Topps Gilded Collection Cast in Gold Autographs – Superfrator – Julio Rodriguez – $22,800
This 1-of-1 sold for $22,800 in March 2023, according to Card Ladder. While it looks to be the highest-selling Gilded card, it is a coveted Superfractor.
2023 Topps Gilded Babe Ruth Cut Auto – 1/1 – $13,500
The Babe Ruth cut autograph takes a dip down to $13,500. It’s still great sale from a hobby box, but it’s a tough pull. The card initially sold in November 2023 and then sold again in May 2024 for $400 less.
2023 Topps Gilded Collection Gold Etch Autograph – Superfractor – Shohei Ohtani – $10,980
This card was sold in December 2023. It’s another 1-of-1, which makes it all the more valuable. I do wonder if this card would sell for more money now than it did last winter.
2022 Topps Gilded Collection Gold Etch Autograph – Superfractor – Shohei Ohtani – $10,100
There’s a theme starting here. The right combo adds a Superfractor with Shohei Ohtani.
2023 Topps Gilded Collection Albert Einstein Cut Auto – 1/1 – $9999.99
There aren’t any other five-figure public sales of Gilded Collection cards. However, the Einstein auto flirts close enough with the mark.
2023 Topps Gilded Collection Gallery of Gold Auto 1/1 – Gunnar Henderson – $9,999.99
Henderson had one of the top coveted rookie cards for the 2023 season.
2023 Topps Gilded Collection Jackie Robinson Cut Auto – 1/1 – $7.515.20
No surprise this Robinson auto auto makes the list.
2022 Topps Gilded Collection Jim Thorpe Cut auto – 1/1 – $7,500
Another legend.
2023 Topps Gilded Collection Ty Cobb Cut Auto – 1/1 – $7,100
And another one.
2022 Topps Gilded Collection Superfractor 1/1 – Shohei Ohtani – $5,650
There seems to be a common theme for the top sales from Gilded Collection over the past two years. Cut autographs, Ohtani and top rookie cards get the most attention.
That’s no different than most products. With a high price point for a box, there’s not much that is going to change here either. There’s a focus on retired players, stars and rookies in the 150-card base set.
This year’s cut autograph checklist is small, but includes names like Babe Ruth, Napoleon Bonaparte, Thomas Jefferson and Honus Wagner.
